Can you catch herpes from being in a hot springs with someone?

Jason asked:

I was wondering if you can catch herpes from being in the same hot springs as someone who has the disease? Can herpes be spread only through physical contact?

Only if you have some kind of sex while your in the springs with them. Herpes likes skin contact, either your mouth or genitals needs to come into contact with an open herpes sore or blister. You can’t get it through just touching.
If they have the oral type then they can pass it on by kissing you on the mouth and by giving you oral sex while they have an out break.
If they have the genital type then they can’t pass it on through oral sed or just kissing or hugging. Genital herpes is usually passed on during regular sex.
