Could I get herpes from sharing a computer and tv remote?

Recently my cousin has admitted to me that they have herpes. Now I cringe every time I hug her goodbye. Sometimes she uses my computer and my tv remote when she is over. After she leaves I obsessively disinfect my mouse and keyboard and tv remote and anything else she has touched. Am I being silly or should I be scared?

No no no. I know how you feel. Last year I had a roommate in college who was very permiscuous and admitted to me she had contracted Hep C and Herpes with the same partner. (Her name was Carmen, I really hate her now, so I have dubbed her Carmex. Teehee) I have been in a monotonous relationship for three years, so while I empathized with her I was on gaurd. I finally realized the awareness is half the paranoia. If I did not know these things about her, I wouldve been totally cool and relaxed. My advice is: put down the Lysol, take off the rubber gloves, and don’t dry hump the remote. I hug and kiss people all the time not knowing the STD, HIV, Scabie, skin rash, swine flu or MRSA status…and I’d rather not know unless were about to tango in the sheets (which I doubt you’ll do with your cuz, but if you are, you’ve got other issues to worry about)

I wouldn’t worry about it at all. The herpes virus cannot live long outside of the body, so if she used any of your things after touching a sore, the virus would die on the surface of anything she touched before you touched it.
