Can I give Genital herpes to my gf if I gave her oral sex while I had a cold sore?

I have had a cold sore for about 4 or 5 days. I gave my gf oral sex and I have a cold sore on my lip. Could she catch genital herpes or is that a different type of virus? I do not have genital herpes or any kind of herpes. What causes you to get cold sores?
