How long after intercourse would you know you had been infected with genital herpes?
bob d asked:
Just a rule of thumb approx. time frame. It's been about 8 weeks since I had unprotected intercourse with a girl that I was unsure if she had any STD's, but in the past 8 weeks I have had NO FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS, no rashes and no signs of genital herpes. Is it safe to say Im probably home-free?

No it’s not safe. It make takes days, weeks, or years to have an outbreak. Then again you may never experience one. Herpes is a virus, and it can stay in the body and surface as it wishes. Sorry, I know this is not what you wanted to hear.

Get Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days Today!
Usually a person has their first outbreak any where from 2 – 20 days after being infected.
For some people, it can take several months and even years to have their first outbreak (this is pretty rare though).
I personally had my first outbreak about a week after I was infected.
I wouldn’t say you are home free just yet. I would still get tested if I were you. Herpes can be tested by a blood test. It’s quick, simple, and virtually painless. Good luck!

You don’t know if she had an STD so why fear having contracted herpes specifically? (Sorry, just seems odd to be only concerned about one STD!)
No one can tell you that you’re safe just because 8 weeks have passed and you have not experienced any symptoms. There is only one way to be certain – get tested. Also, you need to specifically ask to be tested for herpes since it is not always included in a regular STD test.
And next time – practice safer sex.

Herpeset:Genital Herpes Relief
Just because you have not had an outbreak does not mean you did not contract herpes or any other STD. The most common STDs have no symptoms at all in most people. In fact 90% of those with genital herpes do not even know they have it.
The best thing to do is to go to the dr and have a full STD screen done. You MUST request that they do a herpes test, since that is usually not included in STD testing.
Even without symptoms it is possible to spread STD. It is estimated that 70% of new herpes infections were contracted when the infected partner showed no symptoms.
Be safe and get the test!! It is the only way to know
