u are contagious right from when u first symptoms until the sores or blisters heal and go away. so avoid sex durring this time. there is less chance of passing herpes on when there is no out break. BUT there is still a small chance that u could pass herpes on in between outbreaks.
depending on the sevarity of theout break they usually take any where from 1-2 weeks with medication. they can take longer to heal if u don’t use meds or some kind of treatment.

well i assume u are talking about genital herpes, well with proper cleaning, and keeping the sores dry, and using the proper ointment. a bit less than two weeks.
First outbreak is most severe one, so if its ur first, there will be more sores on its way back-to-back.
