Is it just as likely to contract herpes thru oral sex as it is thru vaginal?

Em asked:

If you have sex with some who is positive for herpes, is it less likely to contract it through oral than vaginal? Or are the chances of contracting tge same for oral anal and vaginal?

the chances are about the same. you are just as likely to catch an STD. And no offense, but it’s really not smart to have sex with someone who’s positive for herpes. Herpes is tricky, and can sometimes (in rare cases) be spread through skin to skin contact with the genital area. But i would strongly against having any sexual contact with someone who’s positive for herpes.

It really depends on what part of the body had contact with the infected area. If that person has oral herpes and he/she does anything to your mouth or genitals with his/her mouth, then you will get either 1. HSV1 (Oral Herpes), if he/she had oral contact with your mouth, or 2. HSV2(Genital Herpes), if he/she gave oral sex to your genitals.

The same could happen if you gave oral sex to someone who has HSV2, but you will receive HSV1 instead.

YES it’s possible. If the person giving you oral sex has a cold sore at the time you are having oral sex then they have a very high chance of passing cold sores to your genitals.
Cold sores are caused by the oral herpes virus, they are commonly passed during child hood by being innocently kissed by some one that has cold sores so even virgins can have cold sores.
If your partner only have genital herpes then you’re not as likely to get it by giving them oral sex. Genital herpes likes to live on the genitals. It’s not commonly but it can be passed to the mouth if you give your partner oral sex while they have an out break of genital herpes.
You can get genital herpes any where on your genitals, the anus and vagina are all parts of the genitals you can also get herpes on your inner thighs or buttocks.
