Is it possible to get Herpes without having any sexual contact?

Dot asked:

I was wondering if it is possible to get genital herpes without having ANY type of sexual contact? I am 25 and am have never had any sexual contact, so I was wondering if the sores I have are herpes or if they could even be herpes?

Yes, although Herpes Simplex 2 causes mostly genital lesions and few if any oral lesions, it is possible to contract Herpes Simplex 2 orally through an open oral lesion, however because of how HSV-2 functions this is quite rare. Unless one has had very intimate oral contact with someone who has oral lesions which themselves are rare for HSV-2 and mostly occur with the less active HSV-1 I don’t see any risk of transmission.

Also, the more common HSV-1 (which causes mostly oral lesions) can occasionally cause genital lesions as well, although this is somewhat rare.

Yes, kids get it and pass it around all the time. Someone with the virus on their hands touches your eye and guess what, you got it.

Natural Diet Plan For People Who Have Genital Herpes.

Herpes is spread by touching, kissing, and sexual contact, including vaginal, anal, and oral sex. It can be passed from one partner to another and from one part of the body to another. Brief skin-to-skin contact is all that’s needed to pass the virus. Because herpes may have no symptoms for years, sometimes it is very difficult to know who passed it to whom.

Although it is rare, genital herpes can also be spread from a pregnant woman to her baby during vaginal birth.

Herpes is most contagious when sores are open, moist, or leaking fluid — until the scabs heal and fall off. But herpes can also be spread when no symptoms are present — most people get genital herpes from people with no symptoms. And most people with oral herpes were infected as children.

The lining of the mouth, vagina, penis, anus, and eyes can become infected with herpes easily. Skin can be infected if it is cut, chafed, or burned, or has a rash or other sores.
