very severe genital herpes outbreak?
jessica r asked:
im having my first genital herpes outbreak and im in A LOT of pain..I have swollen to almost 4 times the normal size of 'down there' and have around 20 sores around my vagina and bum. I can barely move, let alone walk. I am on valtrex and am taking panadine (over the counter pain relief) but nothing seems to work and its just getting worse and worse, ive had symptoms for about five days now and am desperate to get relief. although i am taking sleeping pills i still wake up 1-2 hours after sleeping in pain and cant get back to sleep. I have around 2 salt water baths a day and dry myself with a hairdryer. is there anything i can do to make this pain stop, i pretty much burst into tears every time i move. is it possible to get stronger pain meds from a doctor for herpes?

You need to go see a doctor ASAP.
They can give you something to help with the pain and possible switch you to a different medication.
If what you are describing is correct the out break is very sever and needs to be examined by a doctor.
If you can’t afford a doctor, try a local clinic like Planned Parenthood.

You really need to be seen by a doctor. This may be herpes or it could be an allergic reaction.

Sounds to me like there might be more than just genital herpes at work there. You might have a yeast infection as well, which believe it or not can be more painful than herpes.
Get yourself to the doctor, honey. Not something you want to mess around with. Vaginal infections can cause huge problems.

herpes relief
My former husband suffered with Herpes thankfully with safe sex I was never infected (We knew he had it before we got married) … get Lysine it works to shorten the cycle. It also may be that you are not having a Herpes outbreak at all, in all honesty it sounds more like Zoyser to me; which is a form of Herpes b ut it is not the STD. It is the Chickenpox virus and related to Shingles. It is very painful and Narcotic pain medications do not help because it is neurological pain.
To treat the * * pain * * of zoster Herpes
Can You Prevent Postherpetic Neuralgia?
Scientists have not found a treatment that prevents all patients with shingles from developing PHN. However, there are several treatments that some think might reduce the chances of developing PHN. These treatments are:
Antiviral Medication (such as acyclovir, valacyclovir or famciclovir): These medications kill the herpes virus during the shingles phase. Studies have shown that they shorten the time and pain of shingles. Because of this, antiviral medications probably reduce the chances of developing PHN after shingles, but this has never been totally proved.
Nerve Blocks: Nerve blocks are injections of numbing medications, called local anesthetics, into different nerves. Some doctors believe that doing several nerve blocks during the shingles phase will stop patients from developing PHN. Unfortunately, no studies have proven this. Nerve blocks may be a good treatment for the pain of shingles but should not be given to patients as a treatment to prevent PHN.
Tricyclic Antidepressants: One scientific study reported that giving the antidepressant amitriptyline (Elavil) during the shingles phase reduced the chance of developing PHN. Scientists need to do another study like this, with the same results, before everyone with shingles is given this type of medication.
I really feel you have been misdiagnosed, I think you should get a second opinion.
Listed below are some other conditions sometimes mistaken for herpes:
Bacterial or yeast infections
do not usually produce blistering
Canker sores (aphthous ulcers)
are gray with a distinct edge
usually occur inside the mouth
usually heal within 10-14 days without treatment
Impetigo
is a highly infectious bacterial disease
often produces crusty blisters
is more common among children
Molluscum contagiosum (molluscum)
like herpes, molluscum is a viral infection of the skin
unlike herpes, molluscum produces lesions that are raised, with a central dimple
Syphilis
is a bacterial infection
causes chancres sometimes mistaken for blisters caused by genital herpes
Unlike genital herpes, Syphilis does not usually produce a cluster of blisters, and it usually responds well to antibiotics.
Try Lidocain Gel
The best medication for this type of pain is antidepressant
About Herpes
What is Herpes?
The word Herpes comes from the Greek word ‘herpein’, which means ‘to creep’. The herpes viruses have a surprising ability to creep into the body and hide. So, they produce recurrent infections, and sometimes even remain dormant for years and then become active under suitable conditions. This property of the herpes virus was unknown to clinicians for very long and was proved only in 1950 by Burnet and Buddingh. So, it was only then that the real epidemiology of the Herpes Virus was understood. It is said that there are more than 100 varieties of the herpes virus. But, only 8 of them affect human-beings. These viruses have been named as Human Herpes Virus (HHV) and they have been numbered as 1 to 8. These viruses are known to affect both men and women. The herpes virus 1, 2 and 3 are the most commonly occurring ones. Let us study these viruses in detail now:
Human herpes virus 2 (HHV2) or herpes simplex virus 2 Infection is contagious and is spread through skin-to-skin contact. But the main route of transmission is sexual contact.
It may be transmitted during childbirth, when the baby is exposed to genital blisters.
Is there a Herpes cure?
“Is there a cure for herpes?” “Are viruses like HSV 1, HSV 2 and Hepres Zoster curable?”
The question about whether viruses such as Herpes can be cured is a matter of great controversy. Allopathic doctors tend to believe that there is no real cure. This is because viral antibodies tend to stay in the blood-stream for the patient’s entire lifetime. Hence, currently popular methods of viral detection always point toward past wars with viruses. Someone who was infected with chickenpox in the past will have chickenpox antibodies in their blood. However, would you or your doctor consider them not cured? When would you consider yourself cured of herpes?
How is it diagnosed?
. Your physician will be able to diagnose typical genital herpes, oral herpes or chickenpox by looking at the sores. Another laboratory test called ‘culture’ may be performed, in which the fluid of the eruption is studied to identify if it is HSV-1, HSV-2 or Varicella Zoster, or any other. However, one may still have genital herpes, even if the culture is negative (which means it does not show HSV).
What are the treatment options?
For best results as far as duration and healing are concerned, treatment should begin at the first sign of an outbreak. It is possible to revert the outbreak, if treatment is started before the lesions appear.
Prescriptions Used to treat Herpes are:
• Acyclovir
• Famciclovir
• Valacyclovir
Go see a Doc at an Acute Care centere where you do not have to wait for an appointment and ask for a blood test to determine EXACTLY what the culprit is. If it is Zoyser it will not respond to Simplex treatment and your efforts are wasted.
In any case lysine is a good thing to take for both conditions.
Get it here and also get $5. off:
And finally, if you need to tell someone they may be infected but are afraid to do so this is a great site:
It is anynomous.
GNC and all drug stores carry lysine in the vitamin section. Here is a website too:

Is this your first outbreak of herpes? Remember that the first outbreak, called the “primary outbreak” is much worse than any reaccurances that you may have in the future. Also, reaccurances (if any) get much better after the first year. It would help if you post whether this is your first outbreak or what number outbreak this is. The vast majority of people stop getting outbreaks after 5 years of having the virus.
I was infected with genital herpes from a rape. I had my primary outbreak one month after the rape and I had another outbreak 10 months later.
What I found incredibly helpful was baby powder (talcom powder). I put the powder on all over my genital area several times a day, and it dries the sores and gives relief. Also, it smells very nice! Go to your local drugstore and get some baby powder.
Also, you need to stop worrying! Stress is the number one reason why outbreaks occur. If you are constantly worrying about your herpes and if they will ever go away, your immune system will have a harder time fighting to put it to sleep.
Today I read an optimistic article on herpes research. At this time, scientists are unable to cure the virus because the virus is in a dormant state, making it impossible to kill. However, if they learn out to “wake up” the virus, they can kill it with Valtrex. There is hope!! One of these days some scientists will discover how to cure the virus and all the 1 in 5 men and 1 in 4 women will be running to the doctors get the new cure.
Also, try another doctor. They can give you better pain relievers. Good luck!

Try to insert ice cubes into you vagina and rectum. I know it sounds weird…but it works. Just lay in bed on a couple of towels, it will help. Don’t sleep with underwear on, this will give them a chance to breath and hopefully dry out faster. Ask your doctor for a script for lidocaine. Lidocaine will numb it. I don’t believe any OTC pain reliever is strong enough. Cut aspartame out of your diet. It is a HUGE trigger. It can trigger an outbreak in minutes and prolong outbreaks for months. Aspartame is an artificial sweetener found in diet soda, gum and sugar free foods and beverages.
If you ever have any questions, you can mail me.
I hope you feel better soon!
P.S. I don’t know how much Valtrex you are taking. You need to be taking 2-500 mg a day for primary.

You need to go back to your Dr. You are obviously having a beyond severe outbreak and the Valtrex isn’t working yet. The pain has to be unbearable, so you need to seek other methods of treatment to help alleviate the pain.
I’m not sure how you feel about home remedies, but here is a website (http://health.howstuffworks.com/home-remedies-for-genital-herpes.htm) that has some decent home remedies. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!

Unfortunately many men will suffer diabetes impotence before they do something about their blood sugar level. The diabetic has a poison in their bloodstream called glucose. This powerful poison can cut of the circulation in the body. Waiting is the worst things that a diabetic or person with a high blood sugar level can do. The poison in the bloodstream can eventually cut your life short.
