What is the best way to protect yourself from getting herpes during sex?
stlsigma asked:
I used condoms all the time, but apparently they do nothing for herpes. Also what about going down on a woman??? And please don't suggest one of those hideous vagina plastic thingys....
Its not like women are saying before sex...oh by the way....I have herpes.

Herpeset:Genital Herpes Relief
The best way, other than abstinence of course, IS condoms. It’s not 100%, but if used correctly it is the closest thing to it.
If you do give a women oral sex who has genital herpes, it’s possible for you to develop cold sores on your mouth or lips. So, unfortunately using those “hideous vagina plastic thingys” is the best way of preventing herpes being spread to your mouth.
Herpes simplex virus 1 is typically cold sores, while herpes simplex virus 2 is typically genital herpes. I say “typically” because BOTH can cause BOTH genital herpes and cold sores.
And remember, herpes can be spread to another person whether the person is having an outbreak or not. In fact, according to Valtrex, 70% of people with genital herpes got it from their partner when they were showing no signs or symptoms of the virus (that’s how I got it!)

dude, your question answers the question. You are educated about herpes – condoms do not prevent it because it is skin to skin contact. You already know – know your partner. Random girls is like playing with a gun – 20% of adults have herpes.
That said, herpes is not really that big of deal for most, but hey, who want herpes.
