…lysine works too… its in childrens vitamin… it helps dry it really fast.. drop sum of it in a cotton ball, apply it to the affected area and sleep!! do it again the next day.. by the third day… its gone!!

I don’t know where you get the idea that anyone “downplays” this event – they are very painful at the very least. That’s the first I”ve heard of the buttermilk treatment. I did a PubMed research but couldn’t come up with a reference. Again, if it works for you, great. My question: is it the ingestion of the buttermilk or the contact of the buttermilk with the lesion?
The laser does provide instantaneous relief, so I guess patients without a palate for buttermilk are willing to pay for a sure thing.

For all practical intent, the virus and tissues are the same; this treatment should be as equally effective against genital lesions. However, it should be noted that this treatment is for the symptoms of an outbreak; there is no evidence that it prevents transferrring of the virus btween partners, and genital outbreaks can be a result of oral/genital contact and vice/versa.
